The band started almost as a contunuation of a band some of the members had been in some years before called "The Garden We Grew." Arborist is essentially a more mature outlook on music and performing from the same musicians.
The name "Arborist" is actually directly related to the band I just mentioned. These two names follow a chronological order with each other. "The Garden We Grew" paired with their EP title "The Sapling" gave a very youthful vibe. Progressing into this with the name Arborist, which by definition is a tree specialist, shows the progression from juvenile to maturity. In addition, our logo features a Japanese kanji which means "forest," giving another metaphor for growth with the change from a small garden to an entire forest.
Winning the contest was, and still is, a very surreal feeling for all of us. Being able to represent our city at Warped is something we never thought was possible.
Warped Tour to all of us is the concert of all concerts. Nowhere else can you see such a cohesive group of many of your favorite bands and musicians paired with so many other interesting features throughout the venue. We've been dreaming of playing since we started going to Warped over 7 years ago. For us, this now feels like the push in the right direction that we've been working for, and we're excited to see where it leads.
