Ricky Witte is a 19 year old running a booking and promotions company called “Brute Force.” The company works with local bands in the scene. Ricky says “. I would like to help further unify the music scene, and that's what I am trying to do.” The company all started when Ricky got the itch to be apart of the scene. He said that “I got involved in 2014. I went to my first local show. It was from that point, that I decided I wanted to become apart of the local music scene. I wanted to book the best shows. I also wanted to play in a band, and that's finally coming around.” But it hasn’t been easy though, he recalls the hardest part was getting things off the ground, as well is anything that involves money. In addition, it still is a bit of a struggle booking shows. But, for Ricky, “Music runs in my blood. I'd like to see the music scene prosper. Until it does, I won't stop.”

WATERS DEEP

WASHINGTON D.C

Hailing from Washington D.C., Watersdeep is an acoustic pop punk duo that does not

disappoint. Their story began on the drive back from a show, they had the idea to do acoustic

covers together. They began playing on their college radio station doing live covers of Bring Me

The Horizon, A Day to Remember and Pierce the Veil. Then later on to just hanging out and

jamming with one another and overtime they developed a band name and put out their songs

“Your’re Not Alone” and “Free From You.” Their songs are all about “picking yourself back up

during tough times.” The band says they “write music that people can relate too, and we want

listeners to hear our songs and feel good afterwards.” Members Gabe and John get their

influences from My Chemical Romance, Mayday Parade and Bring Me The Horizon. Gabe says

that Mayday Parade “inspired me to want to write my own music.” For John, “When

“Sempiternal” by Bring Me The Horizon did come out, it started to make me think more deeply

about life and things in general.”But when it comes to the performing, even though it is just two

of them “we still have a lot of energy and interact with our crowd as much as we can.” If you

catch one of their sets, don’t let the acoustic deter you from head banding and moshing, the

band wants everyone to know “Not only do we bring with us the moshing and head-banging, but

John sometimes likes to surprise the crowd with some growls and high screams that you

wouldn’t expect from an acoustic set.” Their EP Sunken Feelings, debuted last December and

they have been working and promoting it every show since. Looking forward for Watersdeep,

they hope to start writing new material for the next album. “We’re planning on recording with a

full band and habing and bit of a heavier sound to it, while still keeping the same style of our first

EP.” To hear some of Waterdeep’s EP Sunken Feelings, check it out the links below.

Music Stands with Manchester

Music Stands with Manchester

Last night, May 22, 2017, the world was in shock again. Another malicious attack on

helpless citizens. A place for fans to come together and celebrate an artist’s music was

now gone. As of now, it is known an unidentified man detonated a homemade suicide

bomb at the end of an Ariana Grande concert at the Manchester Arena, according to

BBC. The death toll is currently at 22 confirmed and at least 59 or more have been

injured. In the wake of this, Ariana Grande has suspended her current tour indefinitely.

'"Broken," the singer tweeted. "From the bottom of my heart, i am so so sorry. i don't

have words." Grande was physically unharmed. The Manchester show was the first of

three in the UK. Ariana Grande's management put out an additional statement, saying

"words cannot express our sorrow for the victims and families harmed in this senseless

attack." This attack evoked response from countless entertainers and musicians.

Manchester natives, The 1975 put their concert on hault in Detroit, Michigan to speak

out about, Matty Healy stating “We're from Manchester, right? And where we used to

hang out – the actual place that we used to hang out – someone put a bomb in there

tonight, and then killed a bunch of kids that were going to a fucking show.” Statements

continue to pour out all across the music world, just a few include Issues, Harry Styles,

Cher, PVRIS, Neck Deep, All Time Low, 5 Seconds of Summer, Nicki Minaj, and so

many others. The music world is grieving the loss of the many lives and many twitter

users are speaking out. There are still many individuals missing. If you have any

information, contact Manchester officials.
