DMV Access recently got a chance to speak with DMV artist Vance Skills from The Bronx NY. Skills spoke to us about his music, where it came from and where its going. Get to know Vance Skills by reading our conversation with him below.
Q: What's your stage name and where are you from?
A: My stage name is Vance skillz the Vance part really stood for ADVANCE I just took the AD out and skillz is something I had since a young boy. I’m from the Bronx,ny aka from the X where hip hop started I’m just sticking to the roots of my culture!
Q: Talk about the style of your music and what makes you different from other artists?
A: I would say my style is very versatile from melodic aspect and rapping as well I think I really bring a different flow from others. I listen to all kinds of music but hip hop is what I chose to pursue and if you listen to my music you know it’s something original
Q: Who are your musical influences?
A: My favorite artist growing up was lil Wayne, Biggie and rakim. Mainly because I felt like they can make music that fit any type of mood your in sad, happy, angry etc.

Q: What are your thoughts on the BLM movement?
A: I feel like 2020 everyone around the world realized how real this movement was it was mainly to get the people to view us better and to treat us better like everyone else in society and to stop taking us out because of our color. It’s been happening for too long and I’m glad we made this the biggest movement in history this year!
Q: What would you like to say to your fans?
A: I Appreciate all my supporters and there support on my recently new track DROP I’m really aiming to always get better every track. I’m staying consistent I’m in the zone and I want to deliver more.
