DMV Access recently had the opportunity to speak with D.C. artist, Buddah Baby. Buddah Baby says he started off in Go-Go where he played in Black impression Band. Buddah says “I played In Clubs, Cookouts, Pool Party's, Etc. Any Opportunity People Gave Us To Play We Took Advantage Of. In My Early 20's I Tapped Into My Poetry Side. I Would Write For Hours At A Time. I Started To Memorize My Poems & Give Them Titles. I Then Took My Poetry To U Street & Would Perform In Front Of Crowds. Later On Down The Line My Poetry Converted Into Hip-Hop. I Co Founded My Group "Frontline Masters" Which Is Now Obsolete. Today I'm A Solo Hip-Hop Artist. “
When asked about which artists inspired him, Buddah replied with “My Musical Influences Are The 90's Go-Go Scene. Backyard Band, Junkyard Band, Rare Essence, Northeast Groovers, Huck-A-Bucks. Rap Wise Tupac, DMX, Nas, Biggie, Geto Boys, Bone Thugs N Harmony, Deathrow Records. “
We asked Buddah about some songs of his that we should check out and he went with 1. Rock Star Energy 2. On Some Otha Sh_t Feat- Cool Chris 3. Bound 4 Greatness Feat- Philander. Songs Are Available On All Digital Streaming Outlets. We usually ask every artist to describe the style of their music and ask them to tell us what makes them different from other artists. Buddah replied with, “ Raw Soulful Heartfelt Hip-Hop. I Stand Out Because My Flow Is Original. My Style Is Homegrown. I'm A Reflection Of DC Culture.”
